Windows Movie Maker is a Windows video-editing program created by Bill Gates to fill up space and to remove Reversi. It is often used by poopers both new and experienced to make YouTube Poop videos. There are several websites dedicated to figuring out HOW and WHY it glitches so much, and though people think it is because of using non-Microsoft video formats such as AVI and MPG, some argue that the codecs play a part of the crashing. However in Windows 7, WMM has been replaced by a successor video-editing program that isn't as good for Youtube Pooping; so people tend to change to Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere or just stay with the XP/Vista versions.
On the other hand, some people feel a certain amount of nostalgia for the program, flawed as it is. Some still remain attached to the program even though alternatives are available, and if taken to its limit some truly memorable poops can be made. The Windows Vista version contains major updates and is much more competent than the more-commonly-used XP version, even though it still lacks reverse.
Advantages
- Free with Windows Me, XP or Vista.
- Fairly simple to use.
- Extra video plugins can be downloaded.
Disadvantages
- Needs the patience of a saint since it is VERY crash prone.
- Video reversing requires more effort and time to do; it is done by cutting up clips to the smallest and putting them backwards, compared to a single button of the other programs. This did, however, start the stutter reverse.
- No unlimited video or audio tracks. Only one is available at a time, so if a pooper wants to add another audio track, they must render the video and then add it to the finished file. Video overlaying is impossible.
- No audio effects in storyboard, Audacity has to be used in this case;
- No audio in frame-by-frame. This makes it hard to find precisely what you're looking for.
- Windows Movie Maker never gave you the ability to specify the frames per second or audio kbps before rendering.
- Lack of developer support as of 2011.
Difference Between Movie Makers
Windows ME
- The first Windows Movie Maker ever released
- No effects, not even Speed Up/Slow Down
- You can't really do anything except for Stutter Loop and maybe Sentence Mixing
Windows XP
- The most widely-used Movie Maker
- The first version to use effects
- The best version for Speed Up/Slow Down
- Crashes a lot
- The FX archive is the #1 place for extra effects
- Most used by newbies who just started, but some people still use it today
- Works on Windows Vista and 7
Windows Vista
- More effects than the Windows XP version but it lacks Reversing
- No way to create ear rape, Audacity has to be used
- No extra effects from the FX archive, but there are extra effects from the Windows Movie Maker forums
- Speed Up/Slow Down doesn't pitch-shift anymore
- Works on Windows 7
Windows 7
- Has no timeline from the last ones, when even Windows ME's Movie Maker had a timeline
- Crashes more than the other Movie Makers before it
- Same effects from Vista
- Still doesn't have reversing
Known WMM poopers
While many use WMM then move to a different program (including SuperYoshi), there are the few that stick to it and can rival many poopers who use the other programs. In fact, some still use WMM even when they have something better like Sony Vegas.
