This article is filed under Characters.Gunnery Sergeant Hartman was the United States Marine Corps drill seargent in the movie Full Metal Jacket. He is most famous for yelling at, cursing at, and making fun of his recruits, and generally making their lives a living hell, in order to make them in to proper Marines.
He was shot and killed by Pvt. Gomer Pyle in a state of mental instability, who then proceeded to blow his own brains out with his M-14.
