Steak is a cut of beef that is cut perpendicular to the muscle fibres of cattle. It is a popular food around the world, and can be prepared in a number of ways with a number of spices.
It is commonly eaten with a side of potatoes, and preceded by a side salad.
Levels of Cooking[edit]
- Raw: Uncooked. Should be pure red or pink.
- Rare: Outside of steak is seared. Inside should be red and cool
- Medium Rare: Outside of steak is seared. Inside should be a lighter shade of red, and should be warm.
- Medium: Meat shows hints of pink in the centre.
- Well Done: Meat is same brownish colour throughout, with charring on outside.

- Steaks are a great source of nutrients, especially protein, without the fat that a burger has.
- Steaks are commonly eaten for dinner, though some steaks are eaten with eggs for breakfast.
- Do not put ketchup on your steak, as that is a great insult to the chef, as well as the cow that died for the beef itself.
- The 2 most famous places for steak are the U.S. state of Texas and the city of Kobe, Hyogo prefecture, Japan.
- Not to be confused with a steak dinner, which actually means something else, aside from the cases when it actually refers to a steak for dinner.
- Chopped steak can be made in to a sandvich, or a cheesesteak when cheese and onions are added and placed on an Amoroso roll (which is a Philadelphia specialty).
- A steakhead (also called a meathead) is someone who is physically very strong, but not particularly intelligent (example: Gaston).
