The original series. It stars Goku, a little kid with a monkey tail, who meets up with Bulma, some girl who uses her 14-year-old body to get what she wants, and they become friends and set out to collect the seven Dragon Balls so Bulma can grant a wish, which is to have a boyfriend. During their search they meet up with some very interesting characters like Oolong, the shape-shifting pervert pig, Master Roshi, martial arts master who's also a pervert, and Yamcha, the guy who stalks them for a while and is in love with Bulma. Other shit happens that doesn't involve the search for the balls but if you really wanna know, just watch the damn show for yourself.

Dragon Ball Z

Dragon Ball Z is a lot more sci-fi and action themed than Dragon Ball and starts off a few years after the original series with Goku as an adult, now married and with a child. He finds out from his long-lost brother, Raditz that he's actually an alien warrior called a "Saiyan" from the planet Vageta and was sent to earth as a child to destroy it. Of course, Goku has no recollection of such things so he turned out to be the goody-goody we all know and love. Goku fights his brother and wins but it turns out two more Saiyans are coming to Earth to beat him up and destroy the planet. The Saiyan's come and Goku beats 'em except he lets one of them, Vageta get away so he can fight him again, and other shit happens, again, just watch the show it's pretty good.

Dragon Ball GT

Dragon Ball GT is a sequel anime series that was not originally made by Akira Toriyama and instead made almost entirely by Toei (Akira did oversee some of the production of the show and make the character designs). Whether or not GT is canon is up to debate but it's safe to say it probably isn't. Anyway, GT starts off seven years after Z and a wish is made on the Black Star Dragon Balls that makes Goku a kid once again. After the wish the Black Star Dragon Balls are scattered across the entire galaxy. The planet will explode in one year if they are not collected and brought back to the planet the wish was made on. So Goku, his granddaughter Pan and Trunks all hop in a rocket ship and head out to find the Black Star Dragon Balls IN SPACE!! Other shit happens, etc.

Dragon Ball Z Kai

It's an HD remake of Dragon Ball Z with completely re-recorded voices and most importantly, no filler. And, instead of being on Cartoon Network like most Dragon Ball shows, it's on Nicktoons and (wait for it), the CW4Kids! Who would have seen that coming?
