The Playstation 3 is a video game console and Blu-Ray/DVD player manufactured by Sony. Its competitors are the Nintendo Wii and Microsoft's Xbox 360. Sony claims that "It only does everything". Studies have shown, however, that the PS3 is a very subpar toaster, and it is inedible.
The console was released in North America on November 17, 2006. In Europe, it was released in January of 2007. It was also the last current generation console released for North America and Europe.
The unofficial spokesperson for the PS3 is Chad Warden. Apparently, their official spokesperson for the Playstation 3 is some dude named Kevin Butler, who works in many positions for some strange reason and believes that rumors were the reason why World War I began.
First Impressions
The PS3, despite its capabilities, is notorious for having what was quite possibly the worst hardware launch of alltime. Sony's E3 presentation was full of unintentionally hilarious quotes and mistakes, such as declaring that Genji: Day of the Blade was based on ACTUAL JAPANESE HISTORY, only for the characters to be attacked by a giant enemy crab. Also, it had a launch price of 599 US dollars and pretty much no decent games.
2009 and beyond
Nowadays, as of 2009 and 2010, Sony has turned the tables. Not only has the Playstation 3 has got a price drop to $300, but it actually has games now! Some of the games it has now are...
- Batman: Arkham Asylum
- Killzone 2
- LittleBigPlanet
- Final Fantasy XIII
- Fallout 3
- Metal Gear Solid 4
- Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2
- Tekken 6
- BlazBlue: Continuum Shift
- Tales of Graces f
- Lollipop Chainsaw
- Sonic Generations
- The Uncharted series
And many more, ranging from disc-based original games to various original and classic PlayStation 1 games on the Playstation Network. Chad Warden would be proud.
There's also an upcoming game called "Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale", which takes a number of well-known Sony characters and has them fight to the death. It's an absolutely brilliant idea, and we can't believe nobody's ever thought of it before.
