Popeye[edit]
Popeye the sailor man, is a middle aged sailor who first appeared in E.C. Segar's comic strip "Thimble Theater" in 1929. The Fleischer brothers who were animators at Paramount brought Popeye to the silver screen in 1933. Popeye's popularity soared in the mid-'30s becoming even more popular than Mickey Mouse. Popeye went through many tranisitions over the years, in the early 1940's the Fleischers were fired and the studio was renamed "Famous Studios" in 1942. By 1943, the short cartoons began being filmed in Technicolor, Polacolor and Cinecolor, with the quality of animation decreasing over the years due to budget constraints. 1957 was the end of the 24 year theatrical run for Popeye. Popeye cartoons were sold to Television syndicates and his popularity boomed once again. In the early 1960's over 200 more Popeye cartoons were made, however animation was very poor due to even lower budgets. In 1978 Popeye got another new show called "The All New Popeye Hour" made by Hanna Barbera and another short lived series in 1987 called "Popeye and Son". The most recent Popeye cartoon was a CGI feature called "Me Quest For Pappy" in 2004. Popeye is still a well known cartoon character and has been used in recent Youtube Poops.

- Was born in either 1894 or 1898. By that logic, that means that he is over 110 years old!!!
- Tried to make a YouTube Poop twice but failed.
- When he eats spinach he gains super strength (which strangely doesn't occur when he eats other vegetables).
- Served during World War Two in the United States Navy, reaching Petty Officer First class before the end of the war.
- Is the only enlisted man in the history of the U.S. Navy to ever become a Naval Aviator.
- The rights to him were, ironically, owned by Nintendo, a Japanese company, in the '80s.
- Smokes a corn cob pipe that he can use as a torch, propeller, periscope, and snorkel.

- He has beaten Bluto in every competition.
- He has built eco-friendly vehicles, such as a car and jet that run on spinach.
- Owned a few eating establishments over the years.
- The Popeyes chain of fast-food restaurants is not directly connected to him, even though he served as a mascot for the company until 2012. By the way, go eat at Popeyes right now because it's fucking awesome.
- His second favorite food is roast duck.
- The story of Donkey Kong was influenced by the characters Popeye, Bluto, and Olive Oyl.
- He has skinny biceps and massive forearms. How do you manage that?
- Was a taxi driver for a short time in 1954, as Bluto and his insane antics caused both their taxis to be destroyed.
- From the '40s to the '80s, he wore U.S. Navy-esque whites, with a white hat.
- During the original 24 year run of the theatrical cartoons, Popeye was voiced by 4 different actors. Jack Mercer did the voice of him for nearly 50 years and was actually the replacement of the original voice actor Billy Costello.
- Had a sailor friend named Shorty who only appeared in 3 cartoons, probably due to the fact that he only caused problems for Popeye.
- Over the years Olive Oyl became less loyal to Popeye. Often breaking up with him seconds after she would see Bluto (or the characters he was playing) doing amazing stunts or being fooled into thinking Popeye wasn't a nice guy.
- Can apparently see the Cliffs of Dover from the Atlantic Ocean.
- Can punch Japanese spies hard enough that both Emperor Hirohito and Adolf Hitler can feel it.
- He was originally a minor character for something called Thimble Theater.
- Believe it or not, spinach contains a chemical called Ecdysterone, a natural steroid.
