Mushrooms

Mushrooms are fungi that feed off of decomposed plants. You can often see them in grassy, wet areas with a lot of dead leaves. Eat only the mushrooms you find a stores, not in the wild. Edible mushrooms are usually added to pizza and soups.

In Mario's world, if Mario eats them, he becomes larger (not in that way, you Faggot!). Luigi also eats them. Not only that, but some edible Mushrooms are used by Chefs for certain foods. In the United States, the commonwealth of Pennsylvania is the leading mushroom producer.

Watch-out for poisonous mushrooms, though, as they can make you shrink. In the real world, they melt your liver and you die a slow painful death.

Mushrooms are also used as a makeshift drug in some cases.
