Nintendo is the greatest video gaming company of all time to Japanese and Americans (the rest of the world don't think so). It's been indefinently doing better than SEGA...
Also, they've been around for over 100 years, although in their older days, they used to make Hanafuda cards. Doesn't it seem strange that a company that used to make cards suddenly go out and make video games and video gaming consoles?
Nintendo despite having loved franchises such as Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Pokémon and others is also a company very known for their shady practices. One is that in the mid 80s, they forced most of the leading publishers and developers (such as Capcom, Konami, Technos, Atari/Tengen, and even Namco.) to sign a vicious contract that won't allow them to develop on any other console. Another is that their lead in shovelware such as Brain Training: Train Your Brain In Minutes A Day!, Nintendogs and other Touch Generations titles encouraged the likes of Ubisoft, Desing Software Inc., Data Design Interactive, and others to join in making junk with gems such as M&M's Racing (APPROACHING SOUND BARRIER!!!!!!), Ninjabread Man and the Imagine line... One other type of shady business is that they didn't make Donkey Kong (some unspellable company made it and Nintendo stole the code to make Donkey Kong Jr. - true fact) or even a majority of their own games, a sweatshop known as Tose did their dirty work...
Then again they did make Super Mario Bros. 3 and Punch-Out!!, so yeah....
Oh, and they also recently announced that all three of the Metroid Prime games (Which, again, wasn't made by Nintendo themselves, but by a strange company called Retro Studios Inc., which used to be Iguana Entertainment, who used to work for Acclaim. (However, Nintendo did make the rest of the Metroid series.)) will be able to fit on one disc for the Wii. This recently announced game will be called Metroid Prime Trilogy. Gee, doesn't that sound familiar?!
