History

In January 2012, I decided to make a YouTube Channel to get views and subscribers. As a naive 8 year old, of course the idea of any kind of fame was like heaven to me. Anyway, I had uploaded quite a few Lego stop motion/stick figure videos; which I had been making a year earlier but I hadn't put them up on YouTube. I think I had come across quite a few of these "YouTube Poop" videos. Some of them were funny, but not enough for me to warrant making one of my own. Then one day I found a channel by the name of englishgamer, who had just recently released a couple YTPs that involved console boot-up screens going insane. Now that, for some reason, made me think "I could do that". I already had Sony Vegas because I knew that Sparta remix/YTPMV channels used them so I decided to make my first poop. Now like many other poopers, I made one that was very mediocre. But then again, I was happy with it. All my motivations really were at the time were just to get fans.

In May 2012, I realized that I really wanted to make more of these YTP things, so I did. Then I saw an opportunity when I saw Guitarocker100 make a collab announcement video. Without even commenting on the video saying, "I'll join", I literally just made an entry. Surprisingly, he put it in. So anyway, it was around this time that I started noticing tennis. At first I thought the random distortion stuff was funny, but then I started noticing how abstract it really could get and again, I thought I could do that. But I didn't have anyone to do it with... so... I asked Guitarocker100 in July that year if he wanted to play tennis or something like that. He agreed, and we had a match. Now, I started making YTPs less, and I started doing a whole lot more tennis matches. Also around this time I came across a user called "mariobumbo570" who's known today as Razerek. He was tennising someone and he was using clips from piodx's 2009 - 2010 era tennis rounds and... unaware of the fact that these were somebody else's videos, I was amazed by the sounds that could be made with just Sony Vegas! I wanted to do that too, and... I tried, I guess. In August 2012, this exact user uploaded a serve to anyone who wanted it. Again, I saw an opportunity and I commented on his video saying I'd take it. So we did a thing. Most of my tennis rounds up to that point were very... almost plagiaristic of piodx's style, and I was only really doing it because some other people were doing it. Same reason I started using Happy Tree Friends as a source. If I did it in my own style i'd just slap some visual/audio effects on there, maintaining the same rhythm the video i was volleying already had. I found out about PokeFire50 and then I started ripping his style off. In February 2013 though, I took a hiatus. Mostly because I didn't have any ideas and I was kind of getting bored of tennis. But in the summer of 2013 I got back into it, coming back in September. I was slightly interested in using more effects around this time, so I 'kind of' did. Even when I put effort into my videos, it was kind of half-assed. I would finish these tennis rounds in about 4 days. I kind of realized that I enjoyed other peoples rounds more than I did my own, but I liked participating in these kinds of things. I kind of felt isolated from the other poopers who I wanted to get to know, so in December 2013, i joined YouChew. I wasn't exactly charismatic back then, but nonetheless i was kind of accepted anyway. I even signed up as a replacement for the Multi-Way Tournament and I actually got in. so in January 2014 I made a volley ("I declined to tell them") and it actually received a shit-ton of acclaim. I was getting subscribed to like crazy. I kind of thought I could actually be up there with "the greats", like GameBop, MycroProcessor, Sid and other people. And, I was lucky enough to make it into the next set! But other than that I just felt great about it. I was starting to make more friends, and I actually felt involved in the community. However, I began to grow tired of YTP (mainly tennis) and in May 2014 I announced that i was going to stop after I finished a tennis match with HerpyWhooves and released my "last" YTP in January 2015. I gradually began to resent my videos, and even YTP. In 2017, I privated all of my videos and for a while, the only real times I would come back to YouChew would be to go to the music and audio section and, quite honestly, I still do. I've been leading a normal life ever since.

Around January 2018, I was bored. I still had my old videos on a hard drive. I was interested in art, and I had been watching some of the old videos I liked from when I was 10. Some of them were good and some of them were bad. But most of all, I found a revived sense of interest in it again. I didn't want to devote all of my time to it, but I was curious about picking up where I left off. So I kind of came back and I'm still here oddly enough. I released a few videos in the "poop talk" thread in February 2018, but I didn't really make an official comeback until I released "What is funny?" in the Poop Showroom. This video in particular was started as a relatively normal ytp, but then dove straight into more ambient territory, obviously inspired by the likes of Childhood sweetheart. Most of this was in part because I was looking to some of these videos for inspiration but I wasn't getting anything out of it. Despite this, it was relatively well recieved by the community. Also around this time, I released most of my stuff on Google Drive, because I didn't know how to make a new email account. However, once I learned, I then opened a new channel in March 2018, under a similar moniker to the one i was using before, "three tp". I began to become slightly more active in the process, releasing videos very frequently in the span of 2 weeks. However, I have grown more and more unsatisfied with the conventional ytp style, usually releasing tennis videos to make up for it. At the end of April 2018, I tried to make another ytp. I felt like it was a waste of time, however I worked on it again in May. This video was called "?". I ended up diverting my time to taking a collage of various videos that I was planning to use in a tennis video, but I felt it stood pretty well on it's own, not affiliated with anything. I released this cryptic/seemingly pointless video and called it "letter". At the end of May, I released another video, called "one letter word". I then suffered from a major burnout, and in that experience, used what was left of my attempts at editing and put it into a single video, called "obsolete". Judging by the reception, it wasn't even close to a bad video, but my intention with that video in particular was to make a fitting end. Although, contradicting this single choice, I decided to pick up right where I left off and in July, I made a video called "feeling better". I had a bit more of an inspiration from other ytps to make this one, and it was noticably less intense and slightly more conventional in structure, with only the first 2 and a half minutes being devoted to experimentation. In September 2018, during a period of illness, I got another urge to make a video. This time around, I took a lot of time into creating more minimalistic and colorful images, while simultaneously trying to add a lot of tribute to what I was doing earlier in the year with videos like "a", "Title", "What is funny?", etc. I also tried not to owe too much of my visual effects to any programs other than Vegas. This video in particular utilized a lot more atmosphere, more so than my other videos I guess. Taking advantage of black screens and using them in strange ways... Another mindset that I've adopted is making each video like it's my last, for some reason... I don't know why I make these, but to be fair they are one of the best creative outlets that I have. Even if YTP is dying now, there's always going to be a place in my heart for these stupid videos.

Style

I started off kind of just putting effects on stuff. In 2012 I put NewBlueFX all over the video sometimes and... I left the watermark on there. This, and I eventually started ripping off piodx and PokeFire50 videos. As the channel progressed I slowly realized that leaving the watermark there was a bad thing so I tried to stop doing it. At the end of my "career" I started taking more influence from MycroProcessor, GameBop, AjaxCubed and other people like that. When I returned, I've taken more influence from Childhood sweetheart and fiv95, and several others, but more or less trying to forge my own style out of what I know, nowadays adding a tad bit of humor to my recent videos. However, I'm not really interested in the formulaic nature of ytps, but what peaks my interest more or less, is what others have done outside of that. As far as my "ytps" go, they can range from being very visually impressive, to very simplistic, usually incorporating a sort of call and response fashion. However, a recent formula that I've begun to see in my videos is an odd blend of heavy effects usage, to minimalistic uses of the media generators. Dumb jokes are another thing that I have ALWAYS done, and always will.

Criticism

Most of this is kind of directed towards myself, but my old videos relied a bit heavily on the distortion color curves thing.

Achievements

"What is funny?" when released in February 2018 actually made it to #4 in the "brainrape" category. I guess that's an accomplishment.
