Sam and Max (also known as "MacGruff and Hello Kitty") is a series of point-and-click games created by Lucasarts and Telltale Games. The games were based on Steve Purcell's comic about a "canine shamus" Sam and his crazy partner, Max. The first game, "Sam and Max Hit the Road", was a cult classic and paved the way for cartoons and merchandising. Though the franchise hit a low point, in 2006 a new "season" of 6 games was created by Telltale, consisting of developers from Lucasarts. Three seasons of the new games now exist, and have been collected on Wii and PC, along with the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Mac OS X.
Additionally, the series is gradually being ported to iOS.
