Description[edit]
Sam and Max (also known as "MacGruff and Hello Kitty") is a series of point-and-click games created by Lucasarts and Telltale Games. The games were based on Steve Purcell's comic about a "canine shamus" Sam and his crazy partner, Max. The first game, "Sam and Max Hit the Road", was a cult classic and paved the way for cartoons and merchandising. Though the franchise hit a low point, in 2006 a new "season" of 6 games was created by Telltale, consisting of developers from Lucasarts. Three seasons of the new games now exist, and have been collected on Wii and PC, along with the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Mac OS X.
Additionally, the series is gradually being ported to iOS.

Further information[edit]
- Telltale, inspired by the success of Sam and Max: Season One began making more point-and-click games like "Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People", "Wallace and Gromit's Grand Adventures", and "Tales of Monkey Island". Huttah!
- A running gag in numerous Telltale games, starting with Sam and Max Season 2 Episode 4, is the drink on Sam's desk called "Banang". It makes cameos in later Sam and Max episodes, Poker Night at the Inventory and Tales of Monkey Island to name a few.
- The cartoon version of Sam is voiced by Harvey Atkin, better known as King Koopa. Additionally, the character known as The Geek was voiced by Jeannie Elias, who voiced Princess Toadstool.
- You'll never know where Max keeps his gun.
