Queen is an awesome rock band from the United Kingdom. They are known for many songs, such as "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Another One Bites the Dust", "We Will Rock You", "We Are the Champions," "Bicycle Race", "Somebody to Love", and a bunch more.
History
The band formed in 1971 while consisting of Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (guitar, vocals), Mike Grosse (bass, vocals), and Roger Taylor (drums, vocals). Their first album, Queen was released in 1973. Due to its success, the follow-up LP, Queen II was released in 1974. Reviews were mixed, and not as positive as the reviews for their first album. However, the band would not be successful internationally until later that year when the album "Sheer Heart Attack". This album is how the United States found out about the band.
The Early Years
1968, May and his friend Tim Staffell decided that they wanted to have a band. After recruiting a dentist called Roger Taylor, they created the band Smile. After meeting Freddie Mercury, Staffell left to join Humpy Bong while the remaining members of Smile and Mercury turned into Queen. The name "Queen" was chosen by Mercury because it sounded splendid to him. They started recording an album in 1971.

Trivia
- "Bohemian Rhapsody" is the third best-selling single of all time in the United Kingdom.
- The early 1990s not only brought the death of Freddie Mercury, but the stealing of the beat from "Under Pressure" by a horribly-dressed bandit named Vanilla Ice.
- The late 2000s had Queen reunite under a different name with (obviously) a new vocalist. The band ended up being called Queen + Paul Rodgers during that time.
