Not to be confused with YTMND, a YTPMV is the process of editing clips in such a way they become musical - as if the characters are singing. It's ok to add backing, like a drum track to help it along but the point is the music is created from the existing sound rather than just plastering over the existing sound with some music (which is what an AMV is) This process has been used frequently by The Electric Cheese, Nuthacker, Vorhias, Ophios, igiulamam, and varied others.
The Electric Cheese's definition of a YTPMV is "A piece of music composed either entirely from sources popular within the Youtube Poop community, or composed with a source largly contributing to the melody. Created with the same intentions as a regular Youtube Poop". Therefore..
- A humorous music video using samples from popular Youtube Poop sources IS a YTPMV (For Example, Tomorrow I'll)
- A humorous music video using samples from mainstream media sources unused in popular Youtube Poops is NOT a YTPMV (For Example, Jungle All The Way)
- A "serious" or "arty" music video using samples from mainstream media sources is NOT a YTPMV (For Example, Alice)
Methods of Making YTPMVs
- Making a song out of scratch, and syncing a source (or more) onto it.
- Taking a source or more, and creating a song out of it or them, perhaps applying a drum loop. Most of the YTPMV is made only from the source itself.
- Taking a song already made, most likely from a video game, and syncing a source to it. Though it is the most common method and has spawned many fads, such as THIS VIDEO CONTAINS WIN and "(Insert name here) has Sand in his/her Ocean", it is often criticized as being uncreative and lazy.
