Where'd this "1968" thing come from? --NinjaCoachZ 17:12, 5 July 2010 (CDT)
- Not to mention that you're thing that you said made no sense since the Spy could listen to Iron Maiden even while being in the 1980's. Of course, since I don't have a dictionary worth jackshit, I would have no idea what you were saying at the beginning, so I apologize. - Crazy Luigi 17:16, 5 July 2010 (CDT)
- Plus, the TF2 blog states that "It's the middle-ish part of a century a lot like the one we just had.", which refers to the mid-20th Century. Combined with the calendar on the wall, we can therefore determine that the year really is 1968.
- Also, an anachronism is when something from a more recent time period appears in media that takes place in a certain time period. For instance, a Nintendo 64 in a show that takes place in the year 1986. As the Nintendo 64 is from 1996, it is an anachronism. -Yoshit 19:14, 5 July 2010 (CDT)
- Oh... okay, thanks. However, I still don't see what this 1968 thing was all about. - Crazy Luigi 19:26, 5 July 2010 (CDT)
- Never mind about the second part. You have to highlight the bloody thing in order to get the picture's point! - Crazy Luigi 19:29, 5 July 2010 (CDT)
- It's the century "a lot" like they just had. Plus, knowing TF2's madcap humour, the calendar is probably just an old, vintage one belonging to a character. Unless it changes based on the player's time, but even so that calendar can, in-universe, possibly be a placeholder. The game's year is really just speculation, kind of like saying that Stinkoman lives in 2006 because he calls his year 20X6. IMO, any year is fair game. (Then again, I've never played the game, so I honestly wouldn't know.) --NinjaCoachZ 20:39, 5 July 2010 (CDT)
- You never played the game? What a coincidence, I never played that game either! - Crazy Luigi 22:20, 5 July 2010 (CDT)
- I am going to play it when I get my gaming machine up. Unfortunately, the piece of shit will not install Windows 98 (which CAN run TF2). -Yoshit 23:00, 5 July 2010 (CDT)
- I would like to open this back up for discussion. I would like to call your attention to the Soldier and his story. The Soldier desperately wanted to fight in both World War II and Vietnam. Now, if TF2 took place in this or the last decade, the Soldier would be about 80 or 90 years old, give or take, which he obviously isn't. Furthermore, the Sentry was invented by the Engineer in 1965 under contract from TF Industries. Further still, there are many references to the '60s and '70s in the game. My point is that it would have to at least take place in the '70s, and based on how old the Soldier would be (50s), even that won't work. -Yoshit 22:04, 28 July 2010 (CDT)
