A guy who specializes in home improvement. He owns a show-within-a-show called "Tool Time", where he teaches more about home renovation only to break a lot of stuff. He's (apparently) never heard of the saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Played by the actor Tim Allen.

Jill Taylor

Tim's wife. Played by Patricia Richardson.

Brad Taylor

The eldest son of the family. Played by Zachery Ty Bryan.

Randy Taylor

The middle child. Played by Zachery Ty Bryan.

Mark Taylor

The youngest child of the family. Played by Taran Noah Smith.

Al Borland

Tim's assistant on the show. He's a guy who really likes to wear flannel. Played by Richard Karn.

Wilson

Some guy who we rarely ever see his chin. He usually has some insightful wisdom for Tim, to which Tim usually repeats back (sometimes misquoting it) to his family. Played by Earl Hindman.
