Nichijou (日常, My Ordinary Life) is a Japanese anime, based off an ongoing manga, aired in 2011 in Japan. It is about a group of bumbling high-school freshmen, Yuuko, Mio, Mai, and their robot-friend, Nano built by 8 year old professor Hakase. Together they face daily challenges like school, social life, and strange encounters through a comedic point of view.

While being in the tradition of slice your life anime, like Azumanga Daioh or Lucky Star, its depiction of said "ordinary life" revolves around absurdist situations and even onirical, out-of-nowhere depictions of the characters' reactions (like a fire beam coming out of Yukko's and Mio's mouths after they've been bitten by Mai's dogs). The episodes' structure also includes sketches and snippets that aren't linked to the main characters' plots (if they have any), like Helvetica Standard, which is a manga within the manga/anime. This take on the genre, along with its memorable characters, acquired, afterwards, some kind of cult status amongst fans, while the anime, at the time of its release, wasn't particularly sucessful.

Because of the anime's poor results, it hasn't been officially dubbed yet in other languages (or translated in its manga form), which make it challenging to poop for non-japanese speaking poopers. But the absurdist tone of the show overall made it poopable as is, and it progressively is more and more used. Also, Nichijou has given many sources and samples for YTPMVs, most notably the "Salmon Sample", which is one of the most popular lead samples in YTPMVs, to an extent that it became kind of cliché to use.
