As the series progresses, Yugi and his friends learn about the game's roots in ancient Egypt as a way of sealing powerful monsters, as well as of the origin of the Millennium Items. Spawned a spin-off, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. Dubbed into English by 4Kids.

Further information

The series is not really the first Yu-Gi-Oh anime; there are over twenty episodes that are only available in Japanese that preceded this series. They chronicled the adventures of Yugi and friends before any mention of Duel Monsters.
