These categories will not create havoc like you think, if they are properly controlled. For example, we can prohibit users from adding themselves to these categories, we can protect the category pages, and we can apply the rule that only people that are self-admitted of either party are allowed to be categorized. Plus, the politician article rules apply here, so that should avert havoc or even a political argument. -Yoshit 17:12, 23 June 2010 (CDT)
