1: To satisfy the production company's fetishes, and
2: To prevent the movie from looking homosexual.
What does she do?[edit]
Well she's basically just a damsel in distress who Dr. Eggman captures and wants to marry and have babies with (seriously). She cheers Knuckles on by kissing him, Tails accidentally feels her up, and Sonic accidentally sees up her skirt (through Metal Sonic). As you can see, she's not a very flattering depiction of women at all.
