'''''Scooby-Doo''''' is a cartoon franchise created under Hanna-Barbera in 1969. It focuses on the exploits of four hippie teenagers who drive around in a van looking for mysteries to solve. Accompanying them is a constantly-frightened Great Dane who is also the title character, Scooby-Doo, who can only be talked into doing something for the gang if promised a Scooby Snack. However, <s>just about</s> every mystery these guys get on their hands turns out to be a "crime" perpetrated by some guy whose idea of an evil plot is putting on a monster costume and chasing these "meddling kids" around.

Despite the fact that it was pretty much the same thing happening every episode, the ''Scooby-Doo'' cartoon series managed to last for quite a few seasons, albeit having its name changed several dozen times over the course of its run. In a piece of irony, fans actually got upset whenever something was done to change the show's formula, such as the introductions of new characters, like Scooby's [[retard]]ed brother Scooby-Dum in 1976, and his feisty nephew Scrappy-Doo in 1979 (the latter of whom apparently turned evil around 2002).

These days, Scooby-Doo is ironically one of the only Hanna-Barbera franchises that continues to be featured in new productions, all of which have been made under Warner Bros., who now owns Hanna-Barbera. [[The Simpsons|It is now a ridiculous cash cow that people continue to lick up.]]
